The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies invites applications from qualified candidates for a one-year Sessional Assistant Professor position in Japanese. Applicants must have a PhD in Second Language Acquisition/Education or Linguistics/Applied Linguistics, with a focus on teaching the Japanese language. Familiarity with web-based courses and teaching strategies is also required. The primary responsibility of this position is for teaching the modern Japanese language at various undergraduate levels. Applicants must show evidence of excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching at the university level. The successful candidate is expected to coordinate, further develop, and enhance the language component of the Japanese Studies Program by utilizing the available instructional technology and facilities. A current record of relevant publications and conference presentations must be available. Native or near-native fluency in both Japanese and English is required. The appointment carries a teaching load of three full courses or the equivalent.
