School of Social Work
The School of Social Work, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University invites applications for a tenure-stream position in Social Work at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates must have a PhD (or near completion) in Social Work or a related discipline, and an active research program in social work. Preference will be given to candidates who also hold a BSW or MSW degree. Candidates must hold at least one degree in Social Work. The School seeks candidates whose focus is critical social work; policy and social change; and/or global justice. Preference will be given to candidates whose work focuses on indigenous scholarship, who have strong connections within indigenous communities, and who would bring indigenous knowledges and pedagogies to the School. The successful applicant must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in scholarly research, teaching, and service. Substantial practice experience in social work, social policy, and/or community engagement is required (recent experience is preferred), as is experience working with diverse and marginalized populations. The School of Social Work is committed to educating social workers in practices that further the goal of social justice. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate how their teaching and scholarship engage with the mission statement of the School. The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
The start date for this position is July 1, 2015. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
