Electrical Engineering
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Lassonde School of Engineering, York University, is seeking two outstanding candidates, one at the rank of Assistant Professor and one at the rank of Associate Professor in Electric Power Engineering, but exceptional applicants from other areas in Electrical Engineering may also be considered. Research specializations of interest include, but are not limited to, the fields of 1) power systems protection; 2) power systems operation in deregulated energy markets; 3) smart grid: technology and applications; and 4) high voltage power electronic devices and control of power electronic converters with possible applications to electric motor drives, energy storage systems, and microgrids. The appointments are to commence on July 1, 2015, subject to budgetary approval.
Successful candidates will have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, and a research record commensurate with rank. The successful candidates are expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program, supervise graduate students, and must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The successful candidates will have the ability to participate in partnerships with industry and/or other public institutions, new or currently undertaken, and demonstrated expertise and leadership or the promise thereof in teaching and curricular innovation at the undergraduate and graduate level in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The successful candidates shall also demonstrate their commitment to the engineering profession by being licenced as a Professional Engineer or by becoming licenced soon after appointment.
