Alternate Stream Position in Mechanical Engineering

We are seeking an outstanding candidate for an alternate stream (teaching-focused) tenure-track position at the rank of Associate Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Lassonde School of Engineering, York University. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2015, subject to budgetary approval. The successful candidate's primary responsibilities are teaching undergraduate courses and delivery of related projects and laboratories. The successful candidate is expected to participate in activities related to the undergraduate program, such as serving on committees, leadership in pedagogy of learning, interactions with industry for the purpose of undergraduate education and projects, devising and implementing technology in teaching and learning for the undergraduate program, and engaging in administrative work including the supervision of other persons engaged in teaching.

The successful candidate must have demonstrated or have strong potential for excellence in teaching and learning. He/she must have a first degree (BASc, BEng, or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, and a PhD in the Mechanical Engineering or related field. The candidate should be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers Ontario. The following are preferable qualities in the successful candidate: an ability to interact with industry; track record with undergraduate teaching; track record with course and curriculum development; experience with undergraduate learning outcomes and graduate attributes; interest in leading capstone design and other project-related courses; understanding of and willingness to explore state-of-the-art trends in undergraduate teaching and learning (e.g. web-based distance learning, MOOCs, etc.)
