Two Tenure-track Faculty Positions in Civil Engineering
The Department of Civil Engineering at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University invites applications from qualified candidates for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the areas of Structural Engineering/Materials and Transportation Engineering/Materials to begin July 1, 2015, subject to budgetary approval. Candidates with significant academic and/or industrial experience may be considered for appointment at Associate Professor level.
For the Structural Engineering/Materials position, we are looking for candidates whose teaching and research interests align with one or more of the following areas: reinforced concrete; structural steel; structural mechanics; finite element analysis; structural dynamics; structural health monitoring; rehabilitation/retrofitting of existing structures; high-performance construction materials; durability of concrete; service-life prediction modelling of structures; reinforcement corrosion; innovative materials for rehabilitation and retrofitting; recycling and reuse of construction materials.
For the Transportation Engineering/Materials position, we are looking for candidates whose teaching and research interests are aligned with one or more of the following areas: traffic engineering; intelligent transportation systems; transportation planning; highway safety; traffic operations and management; sustainable design and management of transportation infrastructure; transportation logistics; multimodal transportation systems; pavement design, construction, durability and rehabilitation; asphalt/bituminous materials and mix design; non-destructive testing of pavements; service-life prediction modelling of pavements.
The successful candidates must have earned a PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely-related field; be licenced as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, or be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario; and be eligible for appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Ideal candidates will have post-doctoral and/or industrial experience and a demonstrated track record of excellence (or a clear promise of excellence) in teaching, research and professional practice. The successful candidates will be expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program and supervise graduate students. The successful candidates will have the ability to participate in partnerships with industry and/or other public institutions and demonstrated expertise and leadership in teaching and curricular innovation at the undergraduate and graduate level.
