The Faculty of Environmental Studies (FES) at York University, Toronto, invites applications for a tenure-track alternate-stream appointment at the rank of Assistant Lecturer in Environmental Education to commence July 1, 2015. A PhD in a related field is required at the time of appointment. The responsibilities of this position are centred on teaching, advising, supervising and service.

We are seeking applicants with excellent university teaching records, especially in the student-directed, interdisciplinary, experiential and equity-oriented pedagogy underlying our Master in Environmental Studies program. The successful candidate must be able to contribute to both the undergraduate and graduate programs; preference will be for candidates who can teach the first year MES introductory course as well as the broad-based first year BES introductory survey course and/or other foundation courses. Responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate teaching, program advising and supervision of major research papers, projects, portfolios and dissertations, as well as Faculty and university service, particularly curriculum development and innovation in course development and delivery; interest and experience in e-learning and experiential education are assets. Evidence of experience teaching with attention to questions of equity and diversity is expected. Published work in the area of the history and practice of interdisciplinary environmental education would be highly valued.

The successful candidate should be prepared to coordinate the Environmental and Sustainability Education graduate diploma. The ability to contribute to one or more of the Faculty's certificate or diploma programs is desirable. These include undergraduate certificates in Community Arts Practice, Urban Ecologies, Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, Graduate Diplomas in Business and the Environment and the accredited Planning Program.
