The Faculty of Environmental Studies (FES) at York University, Toronto, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Environmental and Resource Management at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence July 1, 2015. A PhD in a relevant field, experience in applied practice or projects and demonstrated ability to use science in the context of environmental and resource management are required.

We are seeking candidates with demonstrated track records of scholarly research, the potential to deliver outstanding research and who have the capacity to bridge the social and natural sciences in environmental and resources management. Specific expertise is sought in one or more of the following areas: landscape planning and management; landscape ecology; ecosystem management; biodiversity conservation and management; and/or protected area management.

Knowledge of resource management policy and economics, the implications of aboriginal and treaty rights for environmental and resource management, and/or knowledge of Caribbean or Latin American environmental and policy contexts is desirable. The candidate should be competent in the application of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods in environment and resources management.

Candidates must have teaching experience and be able to contribute to teaching and research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including supervision of doctoral research. Candidates will demonstrate excellence, or promise of excellence, in teaching and scholarly research, and must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Evidence of experience teaching with attention to questions of equity and diversity is expected. Experience in online learning, experiential education and the ability to contribute to one or more of the Faculty's certificate or diploma programs are assets. Certificate programs include: Undergraduate Certificates in Community Arts Practice, Urban Ecologies, Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, and Graduate Diplomas in Environmental and Sustainability Education, Business and the Environment, and the accredited Planning Program.
