Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics
The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University, invites applications from qualified candidates for a Sessional Assistant Professor position in American Sign Language (ASL) to commence July 1, 2015. The term of appointment will be for two years with the possibility of renewal. Applicants must have a PhD in a field relevant to ASL Linguistics, Deaf Studies or Deaf Education. Fluency in ASL is required. The position will have primary emphasis on teaching ASL at all levels; therefore, experience teaching credit courses in ASL is required. Applicants must show evidence of excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching at the university level. The successful candidate will coordinate other ASL instructors and review and develop the teaching curriculum. The appointment carries a teaching load of three full courses or the equivalent.
