Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University invites applications from qualified candidates for a one-year Sessional Assistant Professor position in German Studies to commence July 1, 2015. Applicants must have a PhD in any field relevant to German Studies. Applicants should provide evidence of research activity and have experience in teaching German language and culture courses at the university level. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching of language courses and interdisciplinary culture courses at all levels and will be asked to coordinate the lower level language courses. Applicants must show evidence of excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching at the university level. The appointment carries a teaching load of three full courses or the equivalent. Native or near-native fluency in German and English is required.
