School of Health Policy and Management

The School of Health Policy and Management offers a general Bachelor of Health Studies Honours and three Specialized BHS Honours in Health Management, Health Informatics and Health Policy. These programs are designed to prepare graduates to meet the challenges of management and decision-making in the increasingly complex and dynamic health services sector. The program equips graduates with critical knowledge and skills, along with a broad understanding of the economic, socio-cultural, political and technological influences affecting health and the health-care field. The School also offers interdisciplinary MA and PhD programs in Health (Health System Management and Information, Health Policy and Equity). In Fall 2014 the first cohort of students entered the new Global Health BA and BSc Programs in the Faculty of Health which are specialized honors degrees that offer specializations in Global e-Health; Global Health Policy; Management and Systems; Global Health and the Environment; Global Health Promotion and Disease Management.

Health Informatics

Applications are invited for a one-year Contractually Limited Appointment, in Health Informatics at the Sessional Assistant Lecturer level. Applicants should specialize in the areas of global Health Informatics or Information Technology with a focus on e-health applications. Expertise in global health information management, e-health, social networks, health indicators and performance measurement would be an asset. Candidates must have a completed PhD in either international Health Informatics or a related field with a strong Health Informatics focus. Candidates should show excellence or promise of excellence in teaching. The position may involve graduate teaching and supervision in addition to undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the further development of the Global Health Informatics curriculum, and be expected to fully participate in a highly productive and collegial academic community. Successful experience in teaching in relevant health-related fields is preferable.

The start date is January 1, 2016. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
