Applications are invited for a tenure-track position, at the Associate or Full Professor level, commencing July 1, 2016, subject to budgetary approval. The successful candidate will hold the position of Chair of the School of Health Policy and Management for a five-year term, with the possibility of renewal. This is a unique opportunity to lead the School in the implementation of the School's and the Faculty's five year strategic plan: 'Health @ 2020'.

The School of Health Policy and Management is one of four founding units in the creation of the Faculty of Health in 2006. The School's vision is to be a center of critical thought on disability, health equity, and health policy, management and informatics, in the pursuit of excellence in socially relevant research, scholarship and leadership. The School has experienced exceptional growth since its inception to become the 10th largest School on campus in undergraduate Majors. The School currently has a full-time faculty complement of 14 with approximately 1,100 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. The undergraduate program offers a general honours degree and three specialized honour streams, health policy, management and informatics. There is also a 90-credit degree option. There are two graduate programs, Critical Disability Studies and Health Policy & Equity, both offering an MA and PhD. Also, the School, along with other Schools/Department in the Faculty of Health, plays a key role in the new Global Health BA/BSc program and (planned) applied Masters program.

The Chair will work with colleagues, other Chairs and the Dean in the Faculty of Health in leading the five strategic directions of the 2015-2020 Academic Plan:

B. Generating Innovative Research that Makes a Difference
C. Connecting with Partners - Local to Global Networks
D. Supporting our Faculty & Staff in becoming Global Leaders
E. Building Key Support Resources

Applicants should have extensive academic leadership and administrative experience; have the ability to work with diverse groups and disciplines, and be capable of directing the efforts of colleagues while maintaining a high level of collegiality and workplace morale. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and public service is essential. A PhD or equivalent is required in a discipline encompassing health policy, management and/or informatics/eHealth.
