Department of Equity Studies

The Department of Equity Studies, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University, invites applications for a tenure-stream position in the area of International Human Rights at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence July 1, 2016. Candidates must have completed their PhD in International Law, Political Science, Sociology, Social Science, or a related disciplinary or interdisciplinary field. The successful candidate will demonstrate research expertise in International Human Rights, as related to the following specific areas: problems of international political, social and economic inequalities, considered within a human rights and equity framework; research methods as applied to problems of Human Rights, International Law and Laws of Sovereign Nations. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in research, publications, and undergraduate teaching at all levels. The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Demonstrable success in administrative and/or project leadership is a major asset.

This appointment will build upon and expand the University's strengths and prominence in the areas of International Human Rights and Equity, Diaspora, and Migration. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in a growing cluster of researchers with complementary strengths across the University who are engaged in collaborative and interdisciplinary work in this area.
