Electrical Engineering

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Lassonde School of Engineering, York University, is seeking three outstanding candidates, one at the rank of Associate Professor in the area of Electric Power Engineering and two at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering or Micro/Nanoelectronics, but exceptional applicants from other areas in Electrical Engineering may also be considered. Appointments are to commence on July 1, 2016, subject to budgetary approval

For the position of Associate Professor in Electric Power Engineering, research specializations of interest include, but are not limited to, the fields of 1) power systems dynamics and control; 2) applications of power electronics in smart grids; and 3) control of power electronic converters with possible applications to electric machines and motor drives, flexible AC transmission systems, renewable energy resources, energy storage systems, and microgrids.

For the position of Assistant or Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering, research specializations of interest include, but are not limited to, the field of biomedical micro-devices for healthcare applications including point-of-care diagnostics and subsequent treatments by focusing on 1) integrated biosensors; 2) implantable devices; and 3) emerging imaging systems.

For the position of Assistant or Associate Professor in Micro/Nanoelectronics, research specializations of interest include, but are not limited to, the fields of 1) emerging integrated circuits, especially low power circuit design; 2) 3D integrated circuits; 3) printed and flexible electronics; and 4) novel devices for low power circuits.

Successful candidates will have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, and a research record commensurate with rank. The successful candidates are expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program, supervise graduate students, and must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The successful candidates will have the ability to participate in partnerships with industry and/or other public institutions, new or currently undertaken, and demonstrated expertise and leadership or the promise thereof in teaching and curricular innovation at the undergraduate and graduate level in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The successful candidates shall also demonstrate their commitment to the engineering profession by being licenced as a Professional Engineer or by becoming licenced soon after appointment.
