Management
The Schulich School of Business invites applications for a two-year contractually limited appointment at the rank of Sessional Assistant Professor to commence July 1, 2016. The position is in the field of general management, with an emphasis on critical skills development and e-learning.
Qualifications include a PhD in Management or a related area; practical experience in a number of managerial functions; deep understanding of management theory; research interests in management and leadership development, especially with a focus on e-learning models in undergraduate management education; experience with course management systems and integrating e-learning into the classroom environment, with continuous improvement; demonstrated high-quality teaching abilities in large classroom environments, especially in management skills and leadership; and, demonstrated ability to manage tutorial instructors.
The primary responsibility will be teaching the introductory general management course to two sections per term of up to 200 highly motivated and high-achieving BBA/iBBA students. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to develop course content and modes of content delivery on an ongoing basis, with a specific emphasis on integrating advanced online and e-learning techniques. Importantly, this course aims to help students acquire critical thinking skills that subsequent courses develop further. The successful candidate therefore needs to coordinate with other course instructors and the program leadership to help develop an integrated learning experience that ensures students acquire excellent critical thinking skills. In addition to giving lectures, the instructor must also design the weekly tutorials and work with tutorial instructors to ensure the proper delivery of the tutorial content. The successful candidate will work under the general direction of the BBA/iBBA Program Director.
