Applications are invited for a three-year contractually limited appointment in Health Policy and Global Health at the level of Sessional Assistant Professor. Applicants should specialize in the area of Health Policy with a focus on health equity and should have a strong understanding of the Canadian health system. In addition, applicants should be able to support teaching in health policy in the Global Health program.
Candidates must have a completed PhD in Health Policy or a related social science field with a strong health policy and equity focus. Alternatively, candidates with a MD and either a MA or extensive experience in health policy or a related social science field with a strong health policy and equity focus will be considered. Expertise in health and human rights, health care ethics, global health governance, disability, immigrant and refugee health and work that addresses sex/gender and health policy would be an asset. Candidates will demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in scholarly research and teaching. Successful experience in teaching in relevant health-related fields is preferable. The successful candidate will teach in the BHS program and play a pivotal role in further development and teaching of the BA/BSc Global Health Curriculum. The position may involve graduate teaching and supervision in addition to undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to fully participate in a highly productive and collegial academic community.
The start date is July 1, 2016. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
