Department of Political Science

The Department of Political Science, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University, invites applications from qualified candidates for a one-year contractually limited appointment to commence September 1, 2016 at the level of Sessional Assistant Professor to teach in the area of International Relations/Security Studies. Applicants must have a PhD in Political Science with demonstrable excellence, or the promise of excellence, in teaching and scholarly research. The appointment carries a teaching load of three full courses or the equivalent.

The Department of Political Science is internationally recognized as one of the world's leading sites of political scholarship informed by a diverse range of critical intellectual approaches. We encourage applications from candidates whose research complements and strengthens our existing research and teaching.

The successful candidate will join an International Relations complement noted for diverse critical approaches to the field - including constructivist, feminist, and postcolonial approaches. The successful candidate should have teaching and research interests in International Relations with a focus on contemporary security studies, broadly conceived. We welcome applications from scholars employing a range of theoretical approaches.
