The Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University, invites applications from qualified candidates for a one-year Sessional Assistant Professor position in Medical Anthropology to commence July 1, 2017. The ethnographic research areas of the applicant and his/her topical themes are open, with preference for specialization in indigenous health and related topics. Applicants must have a PhD degree in socio-cultural anthropology and demonstrate evidence of active research. Applicants must demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching and show evidence of the ability to engage students in a variety of teaching formats, including large lectures. Pedagogical innovation in priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is an asset. The appointment carries a teaching load of three full courses or the equivalent and participation in departmental service.
