Contractually Limited Appointment

The Schulich School of Business invites applications for a three-year contractually limited appointment (CLA) at the level of Sessional Assistant Professor (professorial stream) commencing July 1, 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is in the field of management. The successful candidate must teach several sections of a course that is based on the Capsim business simulation game and train instructors for the other sections of the course.

The primary teaching responsibility will be managing the content and teaching several sections of a SB/MGMT 4100 3.00 Integrative Business Simulation as well as INTL 4200 3.00 Integrative International Business Simulation. In addition, the candidate will integrate these courses with the core strategy course and manage content and learning objectives across the strategy and the simulation courses (ie., MGMT 3000, SB/MGMT 4100 and INTL 4200). The other responsibility of the position is to train, guide and coordinate the instructors of the other sections of this course. The successful candidate will work under the general direction of the BBA/iBBA Program Director and with the Area Coordinator for Strategy.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Strategy; an active program of academic research, publications in scholarly journals and ongoing research in strategic management, preferably with a focus on ethics in strategy; experience teaching with a business simulation program; ability to integrate the Capsim course with the core strategy course (MGMT 3000) and develop and coordinate learning outcomes across both courses; teaching experience of undergraduate or graduate courses in strategic management; and, be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with the Capsim simulation program and have successfully completed formal Capsim training; have teaching experience of undergraduate or graduate courses based on the Capsim simulation; experience with debriefing of teams of students using the Capsim program; experience teaching ethics and working with the new ethics simulation modules; experience with training and coordinating instructors to use Capsim program in the classroom; experience in serving as course coordinator in a multi section offering of the Capsim program; and, a track record of continuous improvement of Capsim courses.
