Department of Politics

The Department of Politics, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University, invites applications from qualified candidates for a one-year contractually limited appointment to commence September 1, 2017 at the level of Sessional Assistant Professor to teach in the area of International Relations / Security Studies. Applicants must have a PhD in Political Science or in a related discipline, with demonstrable excellence, or the promise of excellence, in teaching and scholarly research. The successful applicant will be prepared to participate actively in the Graduate Program in Political Science and be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is an asset. The appointment carries a teaching load of three full courses or the equivalent.

The Department of Politics is internationally recognized as one of the world's leading sites of political scholarship informed by a diverse range of critical intellectual approaches. We encourage applications from candidates whose research complements and strengthens our existing research and teaching.

The successful candidate will join an International Relations complement noted for diverse critical approaches to the field - including constructivist, feminist, and postcolonial approaches. The successful candidate should have teaching and research interests in International Relations with a focus on contemporary security studies, broadly conceived.
