The Department of Social Science in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies at York University invites applications for a tenure-stream position in the Interdisciplinary Social Science Program at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant social science discipline or interdisciplinary degree program related to the social sciences with expertise in critical research methodologies. Qualified candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence, or the promise of excellence, in teaching, and scholarly research and publication in critical methodologies relating to an interdisciplinary field. Preference will be given to candidates with research in the areas of critical indigenous studies and/or social movements and activism. The candidate must have the breadth and versatility to teach core courses in Interdisciplinary Social Science, including the ability to teach large undergraduate courses on interdisciplinary approaches to social science research and critical social inquiry. Demonstrated ability working with graduate teaching assistants is an asset. The candidate should demonstrate a willingness to undertake service work and be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is an asset.
