Alternate Stream Tenure-Stream Appointments

Applications are invited from highly qualified individuals for three (3) Alternate Stream (teaching-focused) tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Lecturer; commencing July 1, 2018, subject to budgetary approval. We invite applications from nurses with expertise in one of the following areas: Nursing Simulation; Mental Health/Mental Illness; or Common & Complex Health Challenges (adults). Responsibilities for these positions will include teaching in the undergraduate program, and academic service. The successful candidate for the Nursing Simulation position shall be appointed as the Director of the Nursing Simulation Centre (NSC) and provide academic leadership in simulation and clinically-related nursing education with associated clinical learning resource management in collaboration with faculty. The NSC Director will lead the development of additional teaching and learning supports within the NSC for students to foster excellence in educational practice, as well as guide and monitor processes within the NSC to ensure the effective utilization of resources.

Successful candidates must be registered in good standing or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario; and have a baccalaureate degree in Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing or a related field. Candidates must demonstrate alignment with the School of Nursing's commitment to human science and to multiple perspectives in nursing discourses, knowledge, and research; and demonstrate alignment with the School of Nursing's commitment to social justice and health promotion. Successful candidates must have at least 5 years’ experience in the declared area of expertise. Recent, clinical experience (within the past 5 years) is preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence, or the promise of excellence, in teaching and a commitment to pedagogy. In addition, the successful candidate for the NSC Director position must demonstrate experience in implementing simulation activities, managing high-fidelity patient simulators, and developing and implementing simulation scenarios.

Experience in the broader context of nursing (e.g., policy development, program planning); possession of a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Nursing or a related field (PhD in Nursing preferred); and experience with teaching in university undergraduate programs in technology-enhanced and experiential learning environments, and serving on professional committees or governance bodies are viewed as assets.
