The Department of Civil Engineering at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University invites applications from qualified individuals for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Water Resources Engineering. Candidates with significant academic and/or industrial experience may be considered for appointment at the Associate Professor level. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2018, subject to budgetary approval.
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated candidate who will contribute to the Department's goal of establishing a multi-faceted research program on integrated water resources management, sustainable use of water resources, and water security in the context of climate change. The successful candidate will have demonstrated research expertise in one or more of the following areas: managing water distribution and urban drainage systems; developing techniques for achieving water use efficiency in urban settings; developing decision support, simulation and optimisation tools for urban water systems; assessing the impact of climate change on urban distribution systems; assessing integrated asset management for water systems. The successful candidate will also play a key role in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in fluid mechanics, hydraulics, hydrology, hydraulic structures, and water resources engineering.
The successful candidate must have a PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario; and, be eligible for appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The ideal candidate will have post-doctoral and/or industrial experience and a demonstrated track record of excellence (or a clear promise of excellence) in teaching, research and professional practice. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program and supervise graduate students. The successful candidate will also have the ability to participate in partnerships with industry and/or other public institutions and demonstrated expertise and leadership in teaching and curricular innovation at the undergraduate and graduate level.
