The Department of Earth and Space Science and Engineering (ESSE) invites applications for a tenure-stream position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of Engineering Design to commence July 1, 2018. The ideal candidate will have research expertise in the subject areas of Engineering Science, Systems Engineering or Space Engineering, and we will consider applicants who specialize in experimental, theoretical or modelling aspects. Research that would complement current activity in the Department are engineering design, space systems, space communications, space robotics, and systems engineering. Candidates must have a strong commitment to research and teaching and have a PhD in Engineering Science, Systems Engineering, Space Engineering or a related field.
The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program, supervise graduate students, and must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence, or promise of excellence in leadership, teaching and scholarly research and curricular innovation at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The Department of Earth and Space Science and Engineering at the Lassonde School of Engineering offers undergraduate (BEng and BSc) and graduate (MSc and PhD) programs in Geomatics Engineering, Space Engineering, Geomatics Science, Space Science, and Atmospheric Science that develop students' critical thinking and problem-solving abilities needed for current and future technical leadership roles in industry, government and academia.
