Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, York University

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies, York University, invites applications for a two-year contractually limited appointment at the level of Sessional Assistant Lecturer alternate-stream (teaching focused) position in Korean to commence July 1, 2018.

A PhD in a field relevant to teaching Korean language and culture is required as is demonstrated excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching. Experience teaching courses in Korean language, linguistics, culture and/or literature at the university level is required. Evidence of pedagogical innovation and curriculum development in high priority areas such as Experiential Education and technology-enhanced language learning is required as is evidence of experience in the design and implementation of blended and fully online courses. Familiarity with the organization of Korean speech and language contests along with experience working with the Korean community is an asset. The successful applicant must have a current record of relevant publications and conference presentations. Publications in the areas of Korean language, culture, literature and/or linguistics will be considered. Native or near-native fluency in Korean and English is required.
