The Department of Social Science, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies, York University, invites applications from qualified candidates for a two-year contractually limited appointment at the level of Sessional Assistant Professor in Urban Studies to commence on July 1, 2018.

Applicants must hold a PhD in one of the social sciences. They must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in undergraduate teaching in courses directly related to Urban Studies, and an ability to teach in an interdisciplinary Urban Studies program. Previous course director experience is required. The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to teach courses across the Urban Studies program curriculum, including a 3000 level course on critical urban research methods, and a 4000 level internship course. Demonstrated familiarity with urban issues in the Greater Toronto Area and pedagogical innovation in the priority area of experiential education are preferred. The successful candidate will show promise of excellence in research and publication in the field of Urban Studies. The appointment carries a teaching load of three full courses.
