School of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies

The School of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University, invites applications for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Gender, Indigenous People, and Feminism to commence July 1, 2019.

Required qualifications include a completed PhD (or near completion) with a specialization in Indigenous Studies, Gender and Women's Studies and/or Sexuality Studies or related field. This position is open to candidates from all areas of expertise. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in scholarly research, teaching and service, and have publications appropriate to their stage of career. Candidates must also demonstrate engagement with Indigenous communities and in their research and teaching with knowledge of indigenous methodologies and pedagogies. The successful candidate will be expected to teach interdisciplinary courses in their own areas of expertise as well as contribute to the program by teaching in some of our compulsory courses in the School of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies. The successful candidate must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is an asset.
