Auditing, School of Administrative Studies
The School of Administrative Studies, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-stream Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (open rank) position in the area of Auditing, to commence July 1, 2019. The position will be based at the York Markham Centre Campus when the new campus is operational (expected in Fall 2021). Between July 1, 2019 and the opening of the Markham campus, the appointee will assume a combination of teaching responsibilities at York's Keele campus and leadership responsibilities for the Markham campus. The new hire will be responsible for the development and delivery of audit analytics courses in the Applied Accounting Research specialization of the Master of Science in Management Practice (MScMP) program at the Markham campus.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Accounting or a related field with the PhD dissertation or recent publications in auditing and/or data analytics in the context of the accounting profession, a professional accounting designation (a Canadian CPA, CA is preferred), and success within the wider accounting community, e.g., employers, students, and the profession (examples would include obtaining jobs or internships for students, fund-raising, involvement with student groups as their advisor or mentor, and meaningful involvement with the accounting profession).
Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching and in scholarly research, and to have produced publications appropriate to the stage of their career. Because of our commitment to teaching excellence, both discipline-based research (applied and theoretical) as well as pedagogy-based research are equally valued. Applicants with demonstrated ability to design and deliver educational experiences that are valued by industry and with experience in case-based teaching/development will be preferred, particularly the capacity to redesign undergraduate audit courses and to develop and teach graduate courses. The successful candidate will be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is an asset.
