Mathematics Education (Teaching-Focused Appointment)

The Faculty of Education invites applications for a full-time tenure-track teaching-focused (alternate stream) position in Mathematics Education at the rank of Assistant Lecturer. Aligned with the priorities of Faculty of Education's Strategic Plan ( http://edu.yorku.ca/files/2017/08/EDU-StrategicPlan2017.pdf ), the successful applicant will be expected to teach specific courses in and provide leadership to, the Bachelor of Education, and to teach courses in the Graduate Diploma in Mathematics Education. The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to inclusive and innovative teacher education and will bring a theoretical and practical orientation to the study of teaching and learning in mathematics education. Supervision of graduate students may be available for qualified candidates. The projected start date for this position is July 1, 2019. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

A doctorate in Mathematics Education or a related field, and expertise in K-12 education and teacher education in the area of mathematics education, as well as knowledge of mathematics content and pedagogy as reflected in the Ontario curriculum, are required for the position. The successful candidate must be able to provide documented evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching and demonstrate commitment to pedagogy with the potential for programmatic leadership. Teaching experience in K to 12 schools (or equivalent), and a record of publishing in professional journals, speaking at professional conferences, and offering workshops are highly desirable.
