The Faculty of Education invites applications for a full-time tenure-track teaching-focused (alternate stream) position in Secondary Science Education at the rank of Assistant Lecturer. The position will be based primarily at the York University Markham Centre Campus when the new campus is operational (expected in Fall 2021) but with some teaching responsibilities at York's Keele campus. Between July 1, 2019 and the opening of the Markham campus, the appointee will assume a combination of teaching responsibilities at the Keele campus and lead the program and curriculum development for the Markham campus. Aligned with the priorities of Faculty of Education's Strategic Plan ( http://edu.yorku.ca/files/2017/08/EDU-StrategicPlan2017.pdf ), the successful candidate will bring expertise in pedagogical innovation, will lead the program and curriculum development at Markham, and subsequently have primary responsibility for the delivery of the B.Ed. at the Markham campus. The successful applicant will also contribute to programs at the Keele campus as appropriate including the M.Ed. in Language, Culture and Teaching. Supervision of graduate students may be available for qualified candidates. The projected start date for this position is July 1, 2019. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

A doctorate in Education or a related field, and expertise in K-12 education and teacher education in the area of secondary science education, as well as knowledge of science content and pedagogy as reflected in the Ontario curriculum are required for the position. The successful candidate must be able to provide documented evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching and demonstrate commitment to pedagogy with the potential for programmatic leadership. Teaching experience in K to 12 schools (or equivalent), and a record of publishing in professional journals, speaking at professional conferences, and offering workshops are highly desirable.
