The Department of English, Glendon College, York University invites applications for a tenure-track professorial stream appointment in Canadian Literature at the rank of Assistant Professor, to commence July 1, 2019. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University academic appointments are subject to budgetary approval.
A completed Ph.D. in English Literature is required, with a field specialization in Canadian Literature. Qualified applicants must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in scholarly research and publication and service. Applicants should have an ongoing program of research in one or more of the following areas: Canadian Literature and/or Postcolonial Theory and Literatures. We are particularly interested in scholars whose profiles include cultural identity and nationhood, broadly defined, as a research focus.
Qualified applicants must also demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in teaching. Teaching experience in Modernism (particularly British and American) and/or introductory level courses will be considered an asset. The position will involve teaching and supervision at the graduate level. The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred
Given Glendon’s bilingual mandate, the successful candidate must also be able to participate actively in College-wide committee work in French as well as English.
