The School of Kinesiology and Health Science invites applications for a teaching stream appointment in Inclusive and Adapted Physical Activity, at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream to commence July 1, 2019. We seek an outstanding person to join a growing and dynamic School that is ranked as the top Kinesiology program in Canada and 18th in the world. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to provide leadership in enhancing teaching and learning through curricular and pedagogical innovation and to support curriculum development at the level of programs.

Applicants must have a PhD in Kinesiology or other relevant field with an emphasis on inclusive and/or adapted physical activity. Applicants must have documented applied experience working within an inclusive or adapated physical activity setting such as educational, community, clinical, sport, or recreational program, as well as knowledge of theoretical and practical approaches to support meaningful physical activity experiences for indivdiuals living with disabilities.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence or clear potential for excellence in teaching university-level courses, a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success and the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to teaching, learning and program design. A record of pedagogical innovation in areas such as professional practice, experiential education, technology enhanced learning and community-based learning is preferred as is experience with curriculum development and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment. The successful candidate is also expected to provide evidence of service contributions or potential to contribute to service in administrative and committee work. Evidence of experience in the development of teaching resources, assessment tools and workshops for colleagues is an asset. Creating or maintaining an independent program of research is not an expectation.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
