The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Health at York University http://psyc.info.yorku.ca/ invites applications for two (2) full time teaching stream appointments in Statistics & Research Methods at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream to commence July 1, 2019. Core responsibilities in teaching introductory and intermediate undergraduate statistics and research methods to psychology majors, and academic service.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Psychology (or a related field) with demonstrated expertise in statistics, and research methods for psychology. Candidates must demonstrate excellence or clear potential for excellence in teaching university-level courses in statistics and research design for psychology, a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success and the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to teaching, learning and program design. A record of pedagogical innovation in areas such as experiential education, technology enhanced learning and community-based learning is preferred as is experience with curriculum development and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment. Evidence of experience in the development of teaching resources and assessment tools, particularly as they relate to statistics and research design courses, is an asset. Candidates must have experience teaching at the undergraduate level, particularly in courses with high enrolment. Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated excellence teaching within the last 3 years. The position will primarily involve undergraduate teaching but may also include graduate teaching and consultation.
