The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Health at York University http://psyc.info.yorku.ca/ invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in Writing and Communication in Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream to commence July 1, 2019. Core responsibilities will include undergraduate teaching, pedagogical leadership, and academic service.

Applicants with a PhD in Psychology or a related field (such as Education) are invited to apply. Candidates must demonstrate advanced disciplinary knowledge across the study of Psychology as evidenced in research, previous teaching experience, academic writing, and/or graduate training.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence or clear potential for excellence in teaching university-level courses in writing and communication for psychology, a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success and the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to teaching, learning and program design. A record of pedagogical innovation in areas such as writing, experiential education, technology enhanced learning and community-based learning is preferred as is experience with curriculum development and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment. Evidence of experience in the development of teaching resources and assessment tools, particularly as they relate to writing courses, is an asset. Candidates must have experience teaching writing at the undergraduate level. Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated excellence teaching writing in psychology within the last 3 years.

Applicants should also provide evidence of an ability to work collaboratively, as the selected candidate will be expected to contribute through service to the Department, Faculty, and University, and show leadership in our undergraduate psychology program.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
