Teaching Stream Positions

We invite applications from highly qualified, clinically-focused candidates for fourteen (14) full time teaching stream positions in the School of Nursing, Faculty of Health at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream; commencing July 1, 2019. We are seeking individuals who have recent clinical expertise in one of the following areas: Common & Complex: Acute care of Adults; Community Health; Mental Health/Mental Illness; Paediatrics; Long-term Care, who are able to teach the following courses: Health & Healing: Context of Wellness; Client Centred Care of Individuals with Common Health Challenges; Complex Nursing Skills & Health Assessment; Health assessment & Application; Integrated Nursing Science Practicum; Client Centred Care in the Canadian Context; Advanced Nursing Science Practicum; Health & Healing: Community as a Partner; Client Centred Care of Individuals & Families in Home & Acute Settings; Common & Complex Challenges across the Lifespan. Responsibilities for these positions will include teaching (classroom, clinical, and/or simulation lab) in the undergraduate program and academic service.

Candidates must have the equivalent of at least 5 years of full time clinical nursing experience in their declared area of expertise. Candidates must also (1) be registered in good standing or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario; (2) hold a baccalaureate degree in Nursing; and (3) posses a Master's degree in a relevant area (Master's in Nursing preferred). A PhD in a relevant field, or enrolment in a relevant doctoral program is preferred.

The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence or clear potential for excellence in teaching at a university level, a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success as well as the capacity to bring a practical orientation to teaching, learning and program design. A record of pedagogical innovation in areas such as professional practice would be desirable. Evidence of experience in the development of clinical teaching resources and assessment tools is an asset. Experience with clinical teaching in university undergraduate programs, in technology-enhanced and experiential learning environments, and experience serving on professional committees or governance bodies are is preferred. Creating or maintaining an independent program of research is not an expectation.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
