The School of Public Policy and Administration, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies invites applications for a tenure-track professorial-stream appointment in Justice Administration at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, to commence July 1, 2019. The position will be based at the York University Markham Centre Campus when the new campus is operational (expected in Fall 2021). Between July 1, 2019 and the opening of the Markham campus, the appointee will assume a combination of teaching responsibilities at York's Keele campus and leadership responsibilities including the curricular development and delivery of a new Bachelor's program in Justice Administration for the Markham campus.

A PhD in law, public administration or related discipline with a specific focus on Canadian justice administration or PhD equivalent, typically an SJD or LLM/MPA/MA with a substantial record of relevant professional experience is required. Candidates must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in teaching and in scholarly research, and to have produced publications appropriate to their stage of career.

Applicants should have an ongoing program of research and specialize in Canadian or Ontario justice system management and reform, including criminal, family and civil justice systems. Ontario-based professional experience in justice administration is preferred. In addition to having an up-to-date and in-depth knowledge of the Canadian/Ontario justice systems, the candidate will have the ability to enhance the reputation of the School of Public Policy and Administration and develop new experiential education partnerships for student learning, professional development and research.

The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The position may involve graduate teaching and supervision in the Master of Public Policy, Administration and Law program and the Graduate Diploma in Justice System Administration, as well as undergraduate teaching. Demonstrated pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred, as is a track-record of service in academic, professional and community settings.
