Indigenous Studies/Métis Studies
The Department of Equity Studies, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, invites applications for a tenure-track professorial-stream appointment in Métis Studies at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, to commence July 1, 2019.
A PhD, or PhD near completion in any area of the Humanities or Social Sciences relating to Indigenous Studies is required. Candidates must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in teaching and in scholarly research, and to have produced publications appropriate to their stage of career.
Applicants should have an ongoing program of research in Métis Studies, which, in addition to a focus on Métis identities and communities can include a specialization in Métis history, literature, politics or in Black Métisness and the interconnections and distinctions between Afro-Métis and Black Native identities and historic communities in Canada. The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The position may involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred.
