The Department of English, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University, invites applications for a one-year professorial contractually limited appointment in Creative Writing at the level of Sessional Assistant Professor to commence July 1, 2019.

An MA/MFA with a substantial record of professional experience in Creative Writing, Prose Fiction is required. Candidates must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in teaching and in creative writing, and to have produced publications appropriate to their stage of career. Demonstrated excellence in Prose Fiction; experience in genre writing (science fiction, fantasy, horror, speculative fiction, mystery, and/or detective fiction) is preferred; evidence of or demonstrated potential for excellent teaching ability of university-level creative writing courses; one major publication in prose fiction or equivalent is required.

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to high quality undergraduate and graduate education; will be expected to participate fully in Creative Writing teaching team work and program administration. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred. The appointment will carry a teaching load of three full courses or the equivalent.
