Department of Social Science

The Department of Social Science, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University invites applications from qualified candidates for a one-year professorial contractually limited appointment at the level of Sessional Assistant Professor in Work & Labour Studies to commence July 1, 2019. Applicants must hold a PhD in one of the social sciences and must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in undergraduate teaching and an ability to teach in an interdisciplinary Work & Labour Studies program. The successful candidate will show promise of excellence in research and publication in the field of Work & Labour Studies. Applicants should be prepared to teach courses in Canadian labour relations, employment law and labour market regulation, and one or more of: labour and globalization; diversity in the Canadian workplace; gender and care work. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred. The appointment carries a teaching load of three full courses or the equivalent.
