The School of Administrative Studies, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, invites applications for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Auditing at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (Open Rank) level, to commence July 1, 2020. The position will primarily serve undergraduate and graduate programs offered in Markham with potential for some teaching at the Keele campus. The new hire will be responsible for development and delivery of audit analytics courses in the Applied Accounting Research specialization of the Master of Science in Management Practice (MScMP) program. The new hire will also be responsible for revising the undergraduate audit courses to incorporate audit analytics. The ability to teach integrative cases in professional accounting, as a secondary area of expertise, is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

A PhD in accounting or a closely related discipline is required. For candidates for Associate or Full Professor, the PhD must be completed. (In the case of a candidate for Assistant Professor, the PhD must be completed within one year of appointment). A professional accounting designation (Chartered Professional Accountant or equivalent) would be preferred.

Candidates must show excellence or promise of excellence in the case of an Assistant Professor candidate in teaching, scholarly research and publication and service. Applicants should have an ongoing program of research, both discipline-based research and pedagogy-based research are equally valued. Teaching includes the capacity to develop and teach the audit analytics curriculum in both the undergraduate and graduate courses. Service includes success with the wider accounting community, e.g., employers, students, and the profession. Examples would include obtaining jobs or internships for students, fundraising, involvement with student groups as their advisor or mentor, and meaningful involvement with the accounting profession. Applicants with demonstrated ability to design and deliver educational experiences that are valued by the accounting profession and with experience in case-based teaching/development will be preferred.

The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred.
