The School of Kinesiology and Health Science, Faculty of Health, York University, invites applications for a three-year teaching stream, Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA), in Athletic Therapy to commence July 1, 2020. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

A Master’s degree in Kinesiology or a related field is required; a professional doctorate is preferred. The candidate must also currently be certified by the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA). The successful candidate will be expected to oversee Athletic Therapy students in their CATA-approved placements, including liaison with organizations such as sports teams, and to develop competency-based evaluations in partnership with the placement setting. They will also teach undergraduate courses and provide creative educational leadership in enhancing teaching and learning through curricular and pedagogical innovation in and outside of the classroom.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience and demonstrated excellence in supervising and evaluating students in CATA-approved placements. Demonstrated excellence, or clear potential for excellence, in teaching university-level courses, a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success, and the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to teaching, learning and program design in Athletic Therapy are required. Excellent judgment and a reflective approach to teaching innovation are also required. A record of pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as problem-solving, evaluation of student competency, and community-based learning is preferred as is experience with curriculum development. Candidates are expected to provide evidence of service contributions or potential to contribute to service in administrative and committee work.
