The School of Kinesiology and Health Science, York University, invites applications for a teaching stream tenure-track position in Physical Activity Studies – Physical/Movement Literacy at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream to commence July 1, 2020. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses and to provide creative experiential-based educational leadership in enhancing teaching and learning through curricular and pedagogical innovation in the classroom and applied settings in the emerging Integrated Physical Activity for Life Program.

A Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Sport Sciences or related fields (such as Ed.D. in Physical/Movement Education), with a focus in the biological and/or behavioural perspectives of physical/movement literacy related to physical activity is required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence or clear potential for excellence in teaching experiential-based university-level courses, a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success and the capacity to integrate a theoretical and practical orientation to physical literacy teaching, learning and program design. The successful candidate will demonstrate good judgment and a reflective approach to teaching innovation in applied settings. A record of pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education, technology enhanced learning and community-based learning is preferred as is experience with curriculum development and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment. The successful candidate is also expected to provide evidence of service contributions or potential to contribute to service in administrative and committee work.
