The School of Nursing, Faculty of Health invites applications for three (3) professorial stream tenure-track appointments at the Assistant Professor level, to commence July 1, 2020.

One position is available in the each of the following areas: Primary Health Care Across the Lifespan (Nurse Practitioner preferred) focusing on primary health across the lifespan, health for persons and communities with respect to acute and chronic disease and access to care for vulnerable groups; Critical Perspectives on Health and Health Care Across the Lifespan with research in developing a critical awareness and understanding of the upstream influences on Canadian health care reform focusing on such areas as policies, barriers and practices linked to access of health care, quality and cost of health and healthcare, and equity; and Transformative Pedagogies in Nursing Praxis focusing on transforming education in such areas as to meet the evolving needs of diverse nursing and interdisciplinary health care providers and meaningfully engage students using innovative pedagogies.

Candidates must (1) be registered in good standing or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario; (2) have a baccalaureate degree in Nursing; (3) a Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field (Nursing preferred), and (3) a PhD in Nursing or other relevant area (Nursing preferred). Doctoral candidates who will complete their degree requirements prior to December 1, 2020 may be considered.

Candidates must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in scholarly research, university teaching, and graduate supervision. They will be expected to develop and sustain a productive, innovative, and high-quality program of research related to their expertise, including securing external funding and the publication of scholarly papers, chapters, books, monographs. Experience with teaching in university undergraduate and/or graduate nursing programs using pedagogical innovation, experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate alignment with the School of Nursing’s commitment to human science, social justice, and health promotion and to multiple perspectives in nursing discourses, knowledge, and research.

Responsibilities for all positions will includes teaching and supervision in the undergraduate and/or graduate programs, conducting a program of research, and academic service. The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
