The Department of Humanities, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University, invites applications for a Teaching Stream tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Children, Childhood and Youth (Social Justice and Youth Activism) to commence July 1, 2020. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and develop undergraduate courses and assume a service role in the program. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
A PhD, or a PhD near completion, in Humanities or a relevant discipline, is required. The program seeks outstanding scholars who specialize in undergraduate teaching and learning, and whose areas of pedagogical study address the lived experiences and cultures of children and/or youth from a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary perspective. Applications from candidates whose work addresses Indigenous childhoods from a global perspective are welcome. Candidates must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in teaching university-level courses, show evidence of a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success, and have a clear record of immersive learning with children and youth. The successful candidate is also expected to demonstrate evidence of service or promise of service in administration. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred.
