The School of Administrative Studies, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a teaching stream tenure-track position in First Year Experience: Management at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream to commence July 1, 2021. The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory-level management courses, to provide educational leadership through curricular and pedagogical innovation in the first-year experience, and to actively engage and facilitate the progression of first-year students to a successful academic experience in the BCom degree. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
A PhD in Management, Management Education or closely related field is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching university-level courses or clear promise of excellence commensurate with stage of career, through: the teaching statement; teaching history and accomplishments; a record of pedagogical innovation in such high priority areas as experiential education, technology enhanced learning, and community-based learning; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference. The successful candidate will further demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to impactful teaching, the undergraduate student experience and student success, and the ability to advance standards of excellence in the first-year experience as the foundation of the BCom program. Experience in curriculum and program development, multi-media teaching, adult learning, and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment is preferred. Non-academic business-related experience in industry, government and/or non-profit organizations is an asset. The successful candidate will also provide clear evidence of service contributions or the potential to contribute meaningfully to service in administrative and committee work.
