The Operations Management & Information Systems (OMIS) Area, Schulich School of Business, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a teaching stream tenure-track position in OMIS at the rank of Associate Professor to commence July 1, 2022. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

The OMIS Area offers various courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels. The Area also oversees three master’s programs: (1) Master of Business Analytics (MBAN), (2) Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence (MMAI), and (3) Master of Supply Chain Management (MSCM). The successful candidate is expected to teach no more than seven 3-credit courses primarily in the MBAN, the MMAI, and/or the MSCM Programs and likely in the Schulich MBA Program. The successful candidate is also expected to provide creative educational leadership in enhancing teaching and learning (i) through curricular and pedagogical innovation in the classroom and/or (ii) at the level of programs to support aspects of curriculum delivery and development, etc.

A Ph.D. degree (or equivalent doctorate degree such as DBA) in Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Operations Management, Operations Research or related areas from an accredited academic institution by July 1, 2022 is required. Preference is given to those whose Ph.D. is from a business school with AACSB, EQUIS, or Association of MBAs accreditation. Preference is also given to those with a record of publishing in the Financial Times 50 or the UT Dallas listing of journals.

The successful candidate should have a record of:

• Evidence of teaching excellence in courses relevant to MBAN, MMAI, and/or MSCM, as demonstrated through (a) the teaching statement, (b) formal student evaluations of teaching, and (c) documentations of student success and/or teaching awards. Anonymous student comments are welcome, as long as these are captured through formal teaching evaluation processes.
• Evidence of the capacity to bring theoretical and practical orientation to (a) teaching relevant courses, (b) student learning, and (c) curriculum design, and to demonstrate good judgment and a reflective approach to teaching innovations.
• Evidence of development and implementation of innovative teaching approaches and learning experiences, as demonstrated in (a) peer-reviewed writeups in disciplinary or pedagogical journals and (b) teaching cases through recognized outlets, textbooks, and/or funded curriculum development and/or teaching improvement grants. Preference is given to applicants with experience in the design and delivery of technology-enhanced education, beyond video lectures, and with proficiency in developing project-based community learning experiences with industry partners.
• Evidence of curriculum program leadership or the potential to provide leadership for the OMIS Area specializations in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and/or the MBA, MBAN, MMAI, or MSCM programs. Preference is given to those with: (a) evidence or potential to lead the MBAN, MMAI, or MSCM programs overseen by the OMIS Area; (b) experience in applying universal design approaches to teaching assessment; and (c) experience in incorporating an EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) perspective into curriculum design and delivery.
• Evidence of successful engagements with the business community or the potential to engage successfully with the academic and/or business community, as demonstrated through organized services to disciplinary associations (e.g., leading the pedagogical sessions for academic conferences) and publications in practitioner journals (e.g., Sloan Management Review). Preference is given to those who have successfully disseminated managerially relevant disciplinary knowledge in business magazines and/or verifiable online blogs.
• Evidence of service contributions in administrative and/or committee work in academic settings.
• Strong letters of references attesting to the above.
