The Department of Equity Studies, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies at York University invites highly qualified applicants for a teaching stream tenure-track appointment in Human Rights & Technology at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, to commence July 1, 2023.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to provide creative educational leadership in enhancing teaching and learning through curricular and pedagogical innovation in the classroom and at the level of programs and support aspects of curriculum delivery and development, etc.

Candidate Qualifications:
• PhD in hand by July 1, 2023 in the social sciences or a related disciplinary or interdisciplinary field is required, with a demonstrated record of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching, service and teaching-based research with a focus on human rights and technology.
• Excellence or clear potential thereof among early career scholars in teaching university-level courses, as evident in: the letter of application; teaching philosophy; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations including in high priority areas such as experiential education, technology enhanced learning and community-based learning; teaching evaluations; sample of course outlines; and letters of reference at the shortlisting stage.
• Strong commitment to pedagogy and student success, the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to human rights teaching, learning and program design, and evidence of good judgment and a reflective approach to innovation in teaching. Experience with curriculum development and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment and teaching critical thinking, reading and writing in a first-year course is preferred.
• Clear record of, or potential for, service contributions through administrative and committee work.
