The School of Information Technology, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Information Systems at the Assistant level, to commence July 1, 2023. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

A PhD in hand by July 1, 2023 in Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, or a field related to Information Systems is required, with a demonstrated record of excellence or promise of excellence in research and in teaching. Applicants should have a clearly articulated program of research and specialize in one or more areas, including but not limited to: IT Strategy and Governance, IT Service and Operations Management, Enterprise Architecture, IT Sourcing, Ethical and Regulatory Aspects. Candidates must show excellence in teaching, scholarly research and service, and to have produced a strong publication record in premier IS venues, appropriate to their stage of career. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in outstanding, innovative, and, as appropriate, externally funded research at the highest level.

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence or promise of research excellence of a recognized international calibre as demonstrated in: the research statement; a record of publications (or forthcoming publications) with significant journals in the field; presentations at major conferences; awards and accolades; and strong recommendations from referees of high standing.

We seek to appoint an outstanding researcher as part of the university’s strategic commitment to accelerate York’s progress toward being recognized nationally and internationally as a top comprehensive, research-intensive university. The Dean is able to offer enhanced research support for the first three years of this appointment.

The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching and the successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Further, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the curricular and institutional growth of the School and teach existing and new courses in Information Technology in the broad area of Information Systems as prescribed in model curricula such as those of ACM (IS2010, MSIS2016), ISACA, ITAC-BTM.

Evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching will be provided through: the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations including in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference.
