Purpose:
With a dual reporting line to the Assistant Director Admissions Assessment and the Assistant Director Transfers & Transitions the Manager is primarily responsible for the systematic control, planning, implementation, and oversight of operational activities involving the processing of admission application and documents associated with applications (e.g. application forms, transcripts, supporting documents, etc.) for both hard copy and electronic format. The manager is also responsible for coordinating current student documentation back into the admissions process that affects the transfer credit evaluations. This position manages the mailroom functions including the intake of mail (Admissions receives one of the largest shares of University mail) its processing and outgoing correspondence including courier services directed at future students to ensure timely receipt and confirmation of their application and next steps in the admissions process.
 
Education:
University degree (preferred in records management, library science, operations, or business) or equivalent experience; knowledge of relational database and quality assurance practices. Certified Records Manager credential an asset.
 
Experience:
2 years' managerial experience including the development, formulation and implementation of policies/procedures directly related to document processing, review and logistics. Experience managing a high volume mailroom operation. Familiarity with design, development, implementation and maintenance of a document imaging system to process high volumes of hard copy documents. Staff supervisory experience required. Knowledge of and experience with computerized Information Systems Experience in an academic/government agency/high volume document processing unit preferred.
 
Skills:
Solid written and oral communication skills to relay/train/and document information; good judgement, initiative and resourceful problem solving skills; proven ability to manage/organize several functions simultaneously; strong human resource management skills; effective interpersonal skills; working knowledge of application oriented software including spreadsheets and database applications (e.g. MS Access, MS Excel, large computerized record system, document imaging systems etc.).
