Position Start Date: December 3, 2012   Position End Date: June 20, 2013
 
Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to provide secretarial and administrative support to the Undergraduate Program Director and undergraduate program area in the Department of Social Science.
 
Education:
High School graduation with secretarial training or equivalent.
 
Experience:
2 years related secretarial and administrative experience including, coordinating academic processes including enrolments, grades, academic honesty, curriculum, CUPE, coordinating meetings, answering enquiries in a front-line public service area, in an academic environment.
 
Skills:
Typing 45-50 w.p.m. with ability to accurately input information is essential; demonstrated skill/ability in the following areas: intermediate wordprocessing in a Windows environment (e.g. MS Word); intermediate spreadsheet skills (e.g. MS Excel); working knowledge of ARMS (Academic Resource Management System) and CUPE Hiring System,; proficiency with on-line student records system (SIS); knowledge of electronic mail and electronic calendar (e.g. Lotus Notes); knowledge of web software (e.g., Contribute) preferred. Excellent oral communication skills to elicit information and answer enquiries; dealing courteously and effectively with people; exercising tact and diplomacy in an environment of confidentiality; good judgement; exercising initiative; maintaining confidentiality; ability to effectively and efficiently arrange meetings; minute-taking; excellent organizational skills including setting priorities, meeting deadlines and working effectively under pressure of high volume, including ability to multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines; working effectively both independently and as a member of a team; excellent attention to detail; good written communication skills; punctuality and reliability.
