Reporting to the Executive Officer, the Manager of Human
Resources
& Administration contributes to the achievement of the School's
mission by exercising leadership in the development and
maintenance of a professional, effective and positive work
environment.
The Manager of Human Resources & Administration is responsible
for providing leadership in all areas of human resources and
general administration at the Law School. The Manager provides
expert-level advice and guidance on all employee relations matters
to the management team and academic administrators related to
both non-academic and academic affiliations.
In conjunction with the Executive Officer, and in collaboration with the
Osgoode management team, the Manager develops strategies,
plans, policies and procedures to achieve the School’s short- and
long-term goals and objectives in support of Osgoode’s strategic
plan. |

Education:
University Degree required preferably with focus in Business
Administration / Human Resources or equivalent combination of
education and experience. Human Resources Professional certification
preferred. |

Experience:
5 – 7 years related managerial and human resources/employee
relations experience in a large unionized public sector organization.
Experience in an educational environment preferred; demonstrated
experience with organizational design and implementation of change;
demonstrated expertise in salary budget planning, conflict resolution,
and training and development. |

Skills:
Excellent analytical skills; excellent written and oral communication;
excellent people and change management skills, excellent
supervisory skills. Knowledge of the University’s budget and
financial processes. Demonstrated skill/ability in the following
areas: work independently and perform effectively as a member of a
team; exercise tact and diplomacy and deal with people in a calm
and effective manner in sometimes sensitive situations; evaluate,
modify and implement solutions to complex problems and
situations; meet short/long term deadlines; set priorities and work
effectively under pressure of high volume work; keep up to date with
Human Resources developments; ability to make presentations to
provide one-on-one sessions or group training; excellent
organizational skills; maintain confidentiality; ability to produce clear,
concise procedural documentation; flexibility and adaptability.
Demonstrated working competency in the following areas:
computerized spreadsheets, MS Office (including Word, Excel,
Access and PowerPoint); email system and internet. |
